Biography of Enrique Castells Capurro  

Artist and illustrator born in Montevideo on March 9, 1913.

Self-taught, he directed his artistic activity   towards the representation of scenes and customs of the campaign.

At age 10 he published his first notes on the dancer Ana Pavlow in the journal "Mundo Uruguayo".

Biography of Enrique Castells Capurro  

Artist and illustrator born in Montevideo on March 9, 1913.

Self-taught, he directed his artistic activity   towards the representation of scenes and customs of the campaign.

At age 10 he published his first notes on the dancer Ana Pavlow in the journal "Mundo Uruguayo".

At 14, he held an exhibition at Friends of the Arts of Montevideo, months then do it at Amigos del Arte in Buenos Aires, where he began to sell their work.

Since then   continued to draw for various newspapers and magazines in Montevideo.

U.S. was the occasion of inaugurating an exhibition of forty-three of his works in the Barbizon-Plaza Hotel in New York.

A couple of years later he returned to America to paint a picture for one of the halls of the United Nations.

Kennedy also spoke at the Galleries of N. York where 5 of his works were acquired by Nelson Rockefeller.

The technique of drawing and watercolor mostly oil on canvas for his large paintings of historical subjects.

Also addressed by various cast sculpture in bronze equestrian issues, as trophies of the Jockey Club in their great prizes.

In 1957 he specialized in fresco painting, having used this technique in the mural recently moved from the Plaza de Maldonado to the esplanade of the Municipality of Maldonado, La Comercial del Este, past conduct diligence service between Maldonado, San Carlos and Montevideo.
